LASIK Laser Technology
At London Eye Centre, we are pleased to be able to offer our patients the benefits that can be derived from using state-of-the-art laser vision correction technology. To that end, here’s some information on the lasers we use in our clinic.
Femtosecond laser
The AMO IntraLase IFS150 is a femtosecond laser that offers safe and proven results. It uses IntraLase® Technology, which creates innovative-shaped corneal incisions for full-thickness corneal transplants.
This advanced laser platform features technology that allows it to create a LASIK flap in under 10 seconds, making it one of the fastest femtosecond lasers on the market.
This flap is the first part of a laser vision correction procedure – it allows your surgeon to gently lift the flap to access the corneal tissue below for reshaping.
The All-Laser LASIK is designed to create a bevel-edged flap which allows for more precise adjustment and repositioning. This feature helps to reduce the potential for flap complications. It uses lower energy per pulse in order to reduce tissue response and any potential for inflammation. These features result in successful outcomes with minimal disruption to one’s corneal structure, as well as strong flaps, ultimately leading to fast recovery.
Excimer laser
At London Eye Centre, we utilize the state-of-the-art Alcon WaveLight® Allegretto EX500® excimer laser during our procedures to reshape your corneal tissue for improved vision.
Some of the benefits of this technology include:
- The EX500 is comprised of a series of technical innovations to optimize laser vision correction, providing excellent clinical results in Wavefront Optimized® and Wavefront-Guided procedures. The laser has been approved by the FDA for topography-guided laser vision correction as well.
- The platform recognizes that every eye is different, which is why it considers the unique curvature of each eyeball during a procedure, ensuring more precise results. It also identifies and treats an eye’s refractive error(s) and corneal irregularities, which leads to more effective outcomes.
- The system’s high-speed laser and eye tracker excel in both efficiency and safety, leading to enhanced throughput, reduced environmental exposure and excellent outcomes. In addition, its state-of-the art technology offers patients safety and reliability, with a low rate of complications and retreatments.
